IndraMotion MTX Micro CNC - The IndraMotion MTX Micro incorporates a PLC (IEC 61131-3) and all CNC controller and multi-drive (3 or 4 axes) hardware with a wide range of software functions for turning and milling machines in a very compact unit. This is a Control Engineering 2011 Engineers' Choice (EC) nominee.Rexroth's IndraMotion MTX Micro is a compact CNC system solution for turning and milling machines. It lowers the time and cost required to build new machines by reducing components and introducing numerous predefined CNC functions. It incorporates a PLC (IEC 61131-3) and all controller and drive hardware with a wide range of software functions for turning and milling machines in a very compact unit.

Providing value with accuracies down to the nanometer, the IndraMotion MTX Micro is ideal for automating up to four feed drives for turning or milling machines as a CNC controller with a powerful integrated PLC. A built-in frequency converter function facilitates the use of standard asynchronous motors as a simple main drive system. Combined with spindle drives with positioning capability, the standard version of the control for turning machines offers C-axis function or C-axis function and powered tools.

A high-performance 32-bit processor provides for short CNC and PLC cycle times with high accuracy and productivity. The I/O interface with modular expansion capability integrates 24V DC auxiliary sensors and actuators into the automation setup eliminating the need for relays in most cases. Base models with three and four axes are available and can be expanded to a max of six axes, using Rexroth IndraDrive units connected via SERCOS III Ethernet, providing new possibilities for standard machine tools. User interface panels for milling and turning offer all standard functions that make it possible to commission and optimize without an external programming unit.

The compact controller hardware uses the same open CNC and PLC standards as the other controllers in Rexroth's IndraMotion MTX family. Systems data is stored using a compact flash (CF) module. The built in USB interface on the HMI panel can be used to import and export entire machine projects and NC data or to make back-ups.
