My Fave 5 Web Tools
March 28, 2008

Web tools to make you more effective

I just can't stand that word Fave but I used it anyway. Never again I tell you, never again!

Just like anything my wife initially agrees too, this list is subject to change next week. Here are my 5 favorite web tools as of right now.

Fave 5 Web Tools

(as I start a numbered list I wonder aloud why I cannot do a countdown list in the blog)
  1. Plugins for Firefox - any plug-in for Firefox is great. Odds are there are useful add-ons out there for most of us. Check out https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/
    1. Web Developer Toolbar - A great utility for anyone writing or reviewing code. (good for search geeks too)
    2. HTML Validator - A great companion for the web dev toolbar allowing you to see the W3C validation errors in your code.
  2. del.icio.us - Categorize, manage and share bookmarks with nobody, everybody or a select group. Then when you say "Now where the heck did I read that" you can head over to your account, check your categories and voila, right there under Tacos is the the link to "Taco Truck Reviews"
  3. TwitterFox - a great Firefox plug in for Twitter. If you don't know what Twitter is, check out my post over on CSE Mag  for more information. Heck, I guess we should add Twitter to this list, Twitterfox is just how I keep up.
  4.  Enso - What a cool little tool for handling repetitive stuff you need to do with your mouse. Not the greatest tool yet but the guys writing it are lean, fast and fabulous coders so expect some great improvements over the next several months.
  5. Basecamp & Backpack from 37Singals - These guys talk about simple software and while sometimes their stuff is too simple, they do make life easier in so many ways. The tools really ooze simple productivity. You can manage simple lists, simple projects and much much more. If you haven't checked them out, get over and set up a free account and try it out.

Now it's your turn to tell me your Fave 5 web tools

I am so confident that this audience can offer up at least 10 more tools that are not on this list that I am willing to give away...nah, I'm not giving anything away this time, but please do share for the benefit of the community.
