M/E insider: recent new hires and promotions

Hnedak Bobo Group Inc. merged with Bullock Smith & Partners, as of July 1. The architecture, interior design, and project and development management firm will operate under the Hnedak Bobo Group brand, and headquarters will remain in Memphis, Tenn.

Harriman, Auburn, Maine, announced that Steven P. Furgeson, PE, LEED AP, and William R. Heil, PE, LEED AP, have joined the firm. Furgeson is Maine’s first LEED AP and brings nearly 20 years of experience in healthcare, institutional, and educational projects. He joins Harriman as a senior mechanical engineer. Heil joins the firm as a senior electrical engineer with more than 20 years of experience in healthcare, education, industrial, and utility projects.

SSRCx, the commissioning subsidiary of Smith Seckman Reid Inc., hired Heather Lanford as LEED project assistant in the firm’s Nashville, Tenn., office. The firm also hired Amy Balderrama as LEED project manager in the firm’s Phoenix office. Terry Stubensey has been promoted to LEED facilitation sales within the firm’s Sustainable Solutions Group in the Tampa, Fla., office.

Jim Quiter, leader of Arup’s Americans region consulting sector, has been named a recipient of the 2008 Standards Award from NFPA’s Standards Council. Quiter, a principal at Arup, has been a fire protection engineer for more than 25 years.

The Albert Kahn Family of Companies, Detroit, announced that the following individuals have been elected to senior associates of the firm: Thomas Edwards, served project manager for more than 10 years; Akram Siddiqi, PE, has more than 25 years of experience in electrical engineering; Michael Stocker, PE, a field representative with 25 years of experience; and Lee Sun, PE, LEED AP, a mechanical engineer with more than 30 years of experience.

Willie Sutton has been appointed team leader of energy services for the Facilities Group at Lockwood, Andrews, & Newnam Inc. Sutton, who is six-sigma certified, will work with LAN’s clients providing proven techniques and technologies to allow energy and operational control, while positioning clients for sustainable results. Sutton brings more than 25 years of experience developing and implementing energy solutions in commercial, industrial, and public institutions.

Eric O’Neill joined Michaels Engineering, La Crosse, Wis., as an Energy Efficiency Division team member.
