Electrical Basics Online

Staff -- Consulting-Specifying Engineer, 7/1/2004

A series of educational online modules covering power measurement and safety basics is now available.

Power-testing and measurement tool manufacturer Fluke, Everett, Wash., recently announced a partnering effort with the electrical education and training community to offer a series of online modules designed to bring users up to speed on testing and commissioning tools, as well as general safety measures.

The specific modules include: electrical measurement safety; digital multimeter basics; electrical measurements on adjustable-speed drives; insulation resistance testing and troubleshooting and servicing HVAC/R systems. According to Larry Wilson, the company's public relations manager, with a lot of attention being paid to concerns like arc flash hazard, there's also a need for training in how to use measurement tools in these areas. A CD addressing arc flash and similar hazards will be available next month.
