By Staff -- Consulting-Specifying Engineer, 12/1/2003

The Technology Train is coming to town. In an effort to showcase its products and services to technology decision makers through out the country, Siemens Energy and Automation, Atlanta, will take a 1,000-ft. exhibit-on-rails to 10 U.S. cities between February and May next year. The firm's goal is to board more than 15,000 selected guests including construction managers, contractors, consulting engineers, OEMs, government agencies and system integrators. The Exider train is made up of 14 cars filled with 224 plasma screens and monitors, 189 DVD players, four servers, nine miles of electrical cables and almost two miles of data lines. The technology will be used to simulate applications in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, automobile manufacturing, commercial power distribution and other areas.

The train's first stop is in Chicago for National Manufacturing Week, February 23-26. The other stops are Atlanta, Washington, D.C., New York, Boston, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.

Since its first run in Europe in 2002, the Exider has toured more than 120 cities in 22 countries and hosted more than 100,000 visitors.
