Frank H. Norton, executive vice president and business manager at Stoughton, Mass.-based EMCOR Services Northeast Inc. received the D.S. O'Brien Award of Excellence by the Mechanical Service Contracts of America (MSCA) at their Annual Educational Conference in Bonita Springs, Fla. MSCA represents more than 1,400 companies that provide large scale HVAC/R services in the U.S. The D.S. O'Brien Award of Excellence was established in 2000 to recognize individuals exhibiting extraordinary dedication and commitment to the mechanical service contracting industry and to MSCA. Additionally, the Norwalk, Conn.-branch of EMCOR Group announced that its subsidiary Gowan Inc. was awarded a contract for the installation of mechanical systems for the new Maternity Center at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. Gowan Inc. will install the HVAC systems in the new 790,000 sq ft, 15-story Maternity Center. Additionally, Mechanical Services Inc., based in Orlando, Fla., received two first place Eagle Awards from the Central Florida chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors. The awards are based on a range of stringent criteria ranking from jobsite and project conditions to difficulty of installation, and from complexity of mechanical installations to quality of finished product.
Philadelphia-based KlingStubbins and Tocci Building Corp. announced that will be the prime contractor team to participate in a $30 million, five-year contract to provide BIM services for the U.S. General Services Administration. KlingStubbins and Tocci will provide design and construction-related BIM consulting services for new and renovation project on federal buildings located in the New England, Northeast & Caribbean, Mid-Atlantic, Washington D.C., Rocky Mountain, Pacific Rim, Northwest, and Arctic GSA regions.
Melbourne, Fla.-based BRPH announced that John Luznar, PE, recently became certified as a General Contractor. Luznar, a licensed structural engineer and project manager with BRPH, is experienced in managing new construction and renovation of industrial, commercial, and military facilities.
Aurora, Colo.-based Merrick has been awarded new contracts for engineering, architecture, surveying, and geospatial technologies services. In the Merrick Life Sciences Group, the contracts include providing building commissioning services for a new data center at George Washington University, Washington, D.C. and the design of an avian flu control/human pandemic project for the foreign country of Georgia, located in the Former Soviet Union. The firm's Military & Government Facilities Group has been awarded contracts from various military divisions totaling approximately $4,885,000. The planned projects are located at Holloman Air Force Base, Cannon Air Force Base, Fort Drum, Fort Detrick, Fort Carson, and Dobbins Air Reserve Base.
Delton, Mich.-based Keltech Inc. achieved its HLW certification in accordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code for potable water heaters. The achievement makes Keltech Inc. the only ASME HLW-certified electric tankless water heating manufacturer in the world.
Fairport, N.Y.-based Bosch Security Systems Inc. will realign its sales, marketing, and customer service and support organizations in a move that will combine the Security Systems and Communications Systems Divisions in the Americas. Effective January 1, 2010, the changes will result in a fully integrated organization that makes it easier for customers to do business with Bosch. Jeremy Hockham, president of sales for the Americas, will lead sales, marketing, business development, technical and project support, and customer service for the combined organization in North and South America. Eric Cechak, Franck Fabry, Daniel Nix, and Kelly Priest will head the four U.S. sales regions as vice presidents. Robert Drob will lead sales of major projects. Robert Loacker and Norm Hoefler will lead all sales and marketing activities in Latin America and Canada respectively. Thomas Hansen, who previously held the position of vice president, Americas for the Communications Systems Division, will now serve as vice president of key accounts. Nick Valente will continue as vice president of business development, and Daniel Gundlach will maintain his role as vice president of marketing for the Americas. Jim Musshafen will serve as director of training, technical and project support and Paul Loughridge will head customer service.
Glenview, Ill.-based Schirmer Engineering has expanded its presence in the United Arab Emirates with a new Abu Dhabi office. Abir Dalloil Haidar will be located in the Abu Dhabi office and Jim Bychowski will be located in the Dubai office where they will handle fire protection, risk engineering, and security needs for the area.
Salt Lake City-based Spectrum Engineers announced that Joseph M. "Jody" Good III, IALD, LEED AP, principal lighting and theater designer, was named a Green Pioneer by Utah Business during the magazine's first-ever Utah Green Business Awards. The Green Business Awards program honors the best green practices and efforts in Utah, recognizing companies, communities, and individuals who are making strides in environmental sustainability.
The Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) named STV President Milo E. Riverso, PhD, PE, to its National Board of Directors. The CMAA establishes the direction and goals for the association, monitors progress toward reaching those goals for the board's members, and takes action on behalf of the CMAA. In addition, the board of directors governs the organization, which includes steering, controlling and influencing direction for the CMAA.
