Toronto-based Danfoss Heating appointed Holbrook-Associated , Rockland, Mass., as the

company's sales representative and stocking agent in the New England market.

Zeeland,

Mich.-based Herman Miller Inc . and West Hartford, Conn.-based Legrand North

America announced a strategic alliance designed to broaden the reach of energy

management strategies. Technology from Herman Miller's subsidiary Convia Inc. will be embedded into Wiremold wire and cable management systems from Legrand.

Plains, N.Y.-based Malcolm Pirnie received three awards for projects entered in

the American Academy of Environmental Engineers' (AAEE) 2009 Excellence in

Environmental Engineering competition. The competition recognizes excellence in

environmental engineering. AAEE presented Malcolm Pirnie with the Grand Award

for Operations & Management for a project helping the New York State

Thruway and the New York State Canal Corp. The firm received an Honor Award in

Planning for its work at the Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah. Additionally,

the firm received an Honor Award in the Small Projects category for the Seneca

Lake State Park, in Geneva, N.Y.

Milwaukee-based Johnson Controls Inc . and the Boston Medical Center were honored by the New

England Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers for the Best Energy

Project-Medical Facilities . The award was based on the $1.2 million in energy

savings from the infrastructure renewal and energy conservation improvements at

Boston Medical Center. Additionally, Johnson Controls Inc. entered into an

energy savings performance contract with Madison County Schools in western

North Carolina. The self-funded Johnson Controls program is expected to yield

more than $5.9 million in energy savings over 15 years with the incorporation

of facility improvements and behavior modification strategies.

Blue Springs,

Mo.-based Fike announced the acquisition of axonX LLC, a developer of video

image flame and smoke detection technologies. Fike and axonX will continue to

market the product line under the SigniFire brand.

Norwalk,

Conn.-based EMCOR Group Inc . announced that its subsidiary Gowan Inc. has

received a contract for the installation of a new cooling tower for Smith

International Inc. in Houston. Gowan will be responsible for the installation

of a new, more energy efficient 16,000-ton, four-cell coolilng tower that will

include four pumps with variable frequency drives.
