This week Morrissey Goodale tracked ten domestic deals (all assumed to be made effective at year-end 2012), bringing the total 2012 deal count in the United States to 196, up 12% over 2011. Including the U.S., the total global deal count for 2012 is now 330, right in line with the 332 global deals tracked in 2011.

Leading geotechnical, environmental, construction materials and facilities services firm Terracon Consultants (Olathe, KS) acquired The Liesch Companies (Minneapolis, MN), a 50-person provider of environmental and engineering services including industrial hygiene, industrial water and wastewater, air quality, acquisition due diligence, environmental compliance, environmental engineering, solid waste and Brownfield services.  Liesch features a wide client portfolio that includes agribusiness, airports, alternative energy, commercial real estate, facilities, government, healthcare, industrial, infrastructure, legal, mining and waste. Link to details

Consulting, engineering, program management, construction and technical services leader Tetra Tech (Pasadena, CA) acquired American Environmental Group (AEG) (Richfield, OH), a 500-person, $95 million revenue solid waste management specialist and provider of environmental, design, construction, and maintenance services to solid and hazardous waste, environmental, energy, utility, mining and other industrial clients. Moving forward, AEG will join Tetra Tech's Remediation and Construction Management (RCM) segment. Link to details

Additionally, Tetra Tech also announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Parkland Pipeline (Olds, Alberta, Canada), a 900-person, $142 million revenue provider of oil and gas services in Western Canada, including technical support, engineering support and construction of pipelines and oilfield facilities. Parkland will also be joining Tetra Tech's Remediation and Construction Management (RCM) segment upon transaction completion, which is expected to occur in Tetra Tech's fiscal 2013 second quarter. Link to details

Civil, electrical, mechanical engineering and surveying firm Forte and Tablada (Baton Rouge, LA) acquired Engensus (Baton Rouge, LA), a multi-discipline engineering consulting firm offering a broad array of services including structural engineering, wind engineering, coastal engineering, hurricane risk consulting and failure analysis/forensic services. Additionally, as part of the transaction, Forte and Tablada also acquired Engensus Measurements (Baton Rouge, LA), an affiliated provider of data acquisition services to the architectural, engineering, construction and petrochemical industries through the application of 3-D laser scanning, infrared thermography and other software for acquiring, quantifying and reporting physical data of new and existing infrastructure. Link to details

IEM specializes in process/conceptual design and FEL package preparation, plant automation, detailed engineering/design, and construction management and serves primarily the upstream and midstream oil and gas markets and secondarily the refining and petrochemical industries.
