SMMA, motors and motion group, elects new officers

During the SMMA conference, the group elected a new president and two at-large board of directors, among others, to help guide the motors and motion organization.

The following officers were elected at the May 12, 2011 SMMA Annual Meeting at the Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego and will serve a two-year term:

  • President: Douglas R. Bank, Chief Operating Officer, Phoenix Electric Manufacturing Co.
  • Vice President: Paul D. Murphy, Vice President Marketing, Moog Inc.
  • Secretary-Treasurer: Matthew C. French, Vice President/General Manager, Ametek PMC

Also elected to a two-year term were two At-Large Board of Directors: Eric Cole, Vice President Technology, ElectroCraft, and John Roberts, Sales, Sko-Die Inc.

Currently serving Board members (2010-2012) are Deborah Brown, Engineering Manager, Robert Bosch Tool Corp., and Steve Constantinides, Director of Technology, Arnold Magnetic Technologies Corp.

The immediate past President of SMMA, Edward L. Bolton, Director of Sales, Morrill Motors Inc., also serves on the SMMA Board of Directors as does a representative of the SMMA Permanent Magnet Division (PMD), Walter T. Benecki, President, Walter T. Benecki LLC. The President of the Electric Motor Education & Research Foundation (EMERF), Kitt Butler, Director of Motors and Drives, Advanced Energy, serves as a non-voting member of the SMMA Board.

Appointments by the SMMA Board will include: Membership, Motor & Motion College, Communications, Technology, Fall Technical Conference and Spring Management Conference. Those appointed will also serve on the SMMA Board.
