ESD promotes four to VP

Environmental Systems Design has promoted industry veterans Efren Molina, Tony Kempa, Austin Bredow, and Richard Winters to vice president.

Environmental Systems Design promoted Efren Molina to vice president. He is a mechanical engineer who has worked with the company's fire protection engineering team and is a member of NFPA. Courtesy: ESDESD (Environmental Systems Design Inc.) has promoted Efren Molina, Austin Bredow, Tony Kempa and Richard Winters to vice president.

Mr. Molina joined ESD in 1982 as a mechanical engineer. Over the past 10 years he has primarily focused on corporate interiors and has built a strong reputation within the industry as a solid project manager for national accounts. As a key member of the firm’s fire protection engineering team, he has contributed his technical expertise on diverse and complex projects, including commercial and residential high-rise buildings, corporate campuses, and institutional and corporate interior fit-outs. A LEED Accredited Professional and a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Mr. Molina received his bachelor of arts from Northern Illinois University.

A member of ESD’s Mission Critical Facilities Group, Mr. Bredow joined the firm in 2001. He has expertise in financial industry infrastructure needs and is responsible for managing the engineering design of commercial high-rise base building renovations, tenant build-outs, data centers, electronic trading offices, open outcry trading platforms, and mission critical facilities. Mr. Bredow received a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Washington University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and LEED Accredited Professional.

Since joining ESD in 2010, Mr. Kempa has been leading the firm’s marketing functions, working across groups to integrate marketing initiatives and support for the business development needs of the company. His expertise includes developing marketing strategies and leadership of marketing, public relations, and business development programs. Prior to joining ESD, Mr. Kempa led the marketing function for the architecture firm Lohan Anderson; he has had marketing roles at Epstein and Gilbane Building Company. He received a bachelor of arts in mass communication from Western Illinois University and is a candidate for a master of business administration from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management (June 2013).

Mr. Winters joined ESD in 2012 as the firm’s controller. He has over 25 years of experience as a senior financial executive in the professional services industry. Prior to joining ESD in 2012, he was the corporate controller of an international consulting firm, the controller of a major Chicago law firm and chief financial officer for a venture capital firm. A CPA, Mr. Winters began his career as an auditor for Ernst & Young. He received a degree in accounting from Washington University and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.
