Staff -- Consulting-Specifying Engineer, 11/1/2002

Syska Hennessy Group, New York, is designing new mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire-protection systems as well as the acoustics, audiovisual, telecommunications and lighting design for the new corporate headquarters of Synygy Inc. The 163,500 sq. ft. tenant fit-out project is located in the historically significant Chester Station in Chester, Pa. Construction is slated for completion in July 2003. The project architects are Blackney Hayes Architects and The Hillier Group.

The Houston office of RJA Group Inc., Chicago, received the 2002 Marvin M. Black Excellence in Partnering Award for work done on the USAA McDermott Building expansion project in San Antonio, Texas. The award is given by the Associated General Contractors of America. RJA Houston provided for the project fire protection and building-code consulting services.

ZweigWhite, Natick, Mass., has returned its West Coast operations to San Francisco after a two-plus year stint in Oakland, Calif.

Cannon Design, Buffalo, N.Y., recently was honored for work on the Morrell Science Center at Sienna College in Loudonville, N.Y. The firm received a first place technology award in the institutional buildings category from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers.

Chicago-based OWP/P ranks 10th nationally in the number of qualified LEED-accredited professionals, according to the research group Design Intelligence. OWP/P is designing the new Chicago Police District Station No. 22, which is a registered LEED project. It is scheduled for completion in February 2004.
