M/E insider: recent new hires and promotions

Jennifer A. Worley, IDIA, LEED AP, an interior designer with Maregatti Interiors, Indianapolis, achieved LEED AP accreditation.

Patrick Timpe, AIA, joined BSA LifeStructures, Indianapolis, as a project manager. Timpe has more than 30 years of architectural experience. In addition, Jackie Bieghler, AIA, joined BSA LifeStructures’ Indianapolis office as a project architect. Bieghler’s work experience includes University High School, New Albany High School, and Christel House Academy in Indianapolis. In addition, Patrick C. Mendel, LEED AP, a contract manager for construction services at BSA LifeStructures, achieved LEED AP accreditation.  

Environmental Systems Design (ESD), Chicago, promoted Randall Ehret, PE, to senior vice president. ESD also promoted Steven Eich, PE, LEED AP, to vice president.

EMCOR Group Inc., Norwalk, Conn., was named America’s Most Admired Company in the engineering and construction industry by Fortune magazine. The magazine’s annual ranking is compiled from a survey of 622 companies in 65 industries and it ranks companies based on eight attributes of reputation. EMCOR received the highest rankings in the areas of innovation, people management, and social responsibility.

RTKL Assocs., Washington, D.C., promoted Daren Shumate, PE, LEED AP, to vice president. Shumate has 20 years of experience in electrical engineering, power distribution, lighting design, life safety systems, security systems, telecommunications, power conditioning, controls, and instrumentation. His recent work includes a 50,000 sq.-ft-high power density data center for Verizon Business and the consolidation of the 2.2 million-sq.-ft FDA headquarters in White Oak, Md.

KlingStubbins, Washington, D.C., announced that Bruce Werfel, AIA, LEED AP, joined the firm as chief architect. He has more than 18 years of experience with concentrations in high technology and research facilities.

Detroit-based SmithGroup’s lighting design group won the Illumination Design Award from the Michigan Illuminating Engineering Society of North America for SmithGroup’s lighting design of the Pomona College Smith Campus Center. The 65,240 sq. ft three-story, cast-in-place concrete building’s design provides social spaces and other student oriented services.

CMTA, Louisville, Ky., announced that William N. Epps Jr., PE, joined the firm as a mechanical engineer.

Jak Bicaci, AIA, joined Jacobs Carter Burgess, Santa Ana, Calif., as construction administration group manager in the company’s building programs unit. Bicaci has 36 years of experience in the industry. In his position, he will be responsible for all aspects of construction administration.
