• A.O. Smith, Ashland City, Tenn., recently donated two gas water heaters to the Yucca Council Boy Scouts, serving West Texas and Southern New Mexico, for use at one of their campsites.

 

Baldor Electric Company, Fort Smith, Ark., has expanded to two key manufacturing plants. Its Columbus, Miss. plant has been moved to new facilities that will double the size of the old facility to 350,000 sq. ft. Also, Baldor is more than doubling its Oshkosh, Wis. generator plant by adding almost 100,000 sq. ft.

 

Berner, New Castle, Pa., a maker of air doors/air curtains, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

 

Flowserve Corp., Dallas, Texas, a provider of fluid motion and control products and services, has established an award through the American Society of Mechanical Engineers memorializing longtime employee and pump technology expert Dr. Sankaraiyer Gopalakrishnan. The biennial Sankaraiyer Gopalakrishnan-Flowserve Pump Technology Award will recognize a mechanical engineer for achievement in mechanical pump technology with a financial prize.

 

Leviton, Little Neck, N.Y., has appointed Jennifer Waite to the position of national program manager, government accounts. In her new position, Waite will be responsible for coordinating all administrative and financial operations for Leviton’s Government Program, as well resources allocation, marketing and contractor support initiatives.

 

Rheem , New York, N.Y., has announced that R. Craig Breese has joined the company as president of its water heating division in Montgomery, Ala.

 

Schneider Electric, parent company of Dallas-based TAC , has acquired Invensys Building Systems (IBS), a division of Invensys Controls. The IBS merger with TAC follows the merger with Invensys ABS EMEA in 2005. TAC has also acquired Applied Control Technology, Raleigh, N.C.

 

Sloan Valve, Franklin Park, Ill., has announced several key management level appointments, including John Aykroyd as national sales manager.

 

Tyco Electronics Power Systems, Dallas, Texas, has entered into a royalty-based technology licensing agreement with Astec Power, Carlsbad, Calif., allowing Astec and its affiliates to use patented Tyco Power Systems technology in their current designs for their isolated converter eighth-brick and sixteenth-brick families of power modules.
