Despite a worldwide economic slowdown, the structured cable market has posted 10% annual growth this year, according to a report released in the late summer by BSRIA, a British market research firm.
In China and India, growth rates have been even more pronounced at 17 percent, with China accounting for one-third of the region with a market value of $213 million.
According to the study, Category 5E cable is dominant in the region as Category 5 is rapidly becoming outdated. Category 6 cable is strong in Australia and Singapore, and is expected to increase significantly once the Category 6 standard is approved at the end of the year.
