New Products for HVAC Applications

eLearning system offers integrated assessment, skills tracking for earning CEU/PDH credits and online registration and retrieval of certificates of course completion for design and specification of HVAC Systems. Available April 3, the course will be supported by Learning Bursts, in-depth scenario-based training and simulation exercises with a heavy focus on applicability. Scroll compressors now offer “Hot Oil Over Protector,” or HOOP, a proprietary technology designed to minimize the time it takes to detect a thermal fault condition and react to protect the compressor. With HOOP, compressors operate more reliably and have special components designed to detect and alleviate high temperatures and high-pressure ratios. Butterfly valves feature a patent-pending seat design to ensure full 360-degree sealing. The pressure-enhanced seat deforms to create a wider seating area as the pressure increases, and the design also contributes to the valves’ low breakaway torque capabilities. Valves are equipped with blow-out proof stainless steel stems utilizing Teflon-impregnated upper and lower stem bushings to reduce the torque required to close the valves. The stem seals prevent leakage of media and are housed by a patented seal cartridge. For more about Vic-300 MasterSeal butterfly valves from Victaulic, click here .

Water-cooled screw chiller upgrades continue to improve efficiency and so
und management in the 170- to 460-ton range. Compressors have reduced system losses, improving efficiency for maximum energy savings at both design and off-design conditions. As a result, the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute’s integrated part-load value (IPLV) rating is now 0.448 kW/Ton. Full-load efficiency of the unit improves to 0.544 kW/ton.
