• Active Power, Austin, Texas, received the 2006 Frost & Sullivan Backup Power Technology Innovation of the Year Award for its technology that supplies backup power and cooling simultaneously.
• AirOcare, Rockville, Md., has teamed with Tyler Refrigeration, a division of Carrier (which in turn is a subsidiary of Hartford, Conn.-based UTC ) , to establish a new standard of care for food handling and food safety. Tyler will sell, install and service AirOcare’s patented air purification equipment to food retailers and related wholesale food distribution businesses.
• Cummins Power Generation, Minneapolis, a subsidiary of Cummins, is recipient of the Frost & Sullivan 2006 North American Diesel Engine Technology Leadership of the Year Award in recognition of its advancements in emissions technology.
• Emerson Climate Technologies, St. Louis, a business of Emerson, has purchased Kirloskar Copeland Limited (KCL) . The company has partnered with Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) in India since 1993, operating KCL as a joint business venture.
• General Electric Company, Cleveland, and the Nichia Corporation announced a strategic alliance agreement to support Cleveland-based GELcore, LLC, formed in 1999 and previously a joint venture between GE and Emcore, Somerset, NJ. The joint venture represents a commitment to development of LED lighting technology.
• Johnson Controls, Milwaukee, has acquired substantially all the assets of Environmental Technologies, headquartered in Largo, Fla.
• Leviton Manufacturing, Little Neck, N.Y., has acquired Fiber Connect Inc., a Chicago-based provider of data center fiber-optic solutions.
• Sloan Valve Company, Franklin Park, Ill., marks its 100-year anniversary. In 1906, Sloan’s founder invented the Flushometer.
• Tyco Electronics Power Systems, Dallas, has entered into a royalty-based technology licensing agreement with Astec Power, Carlsbad, Calif., allowing Astec and its affiliates to use patented Tyco technology in their current designs for their isolated converter eighth-brick and sixteenth-brick families of power modules.
