“I recently had a chance to test the flow vs. damper blade position characteristics for the AHU1 economizer dampers at the Pacific Energy Center (PEC),” said Sellers. “We discovered a few interesting things, including that theory didn’t match reality, at least for our test.”
Over the course of his next few posts, Sellers intends to explore the test performed, including the theory behind it and the results, to give readers some background information and set the stage for subsequent discussions. Sellers undertook the tests with Wayne Jin, a student in one of his retro-commissioning workshops.
Also, at the csemag.com blogspot, in a recent posting on his blog, Editor-in-Chief Michael Ivanovich praises the Clinton Climate Initiative for doing its part to make U.S. building more energy-efficient.
“Credit the William J. Clinton Foundation for initiating the Clinton Climate Initiative for thinking big and doing the legwork to round up five banks, four energy service companies (ESCOs) with international reach, and our good friends at ASHRAE and the U.S. Green Building Council,” Ivanovich wrote.
For those who are interested, Ivanovich is rounding up all the relevant press releases from partnering organizations and posting the links through his blog. ESCOs involved so far in this effort include Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Siemens and Trane.
