ARI Adds Certification Program

After five years of development, the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI), Arlington, Va., has launched a new Air-to-Air Energy Recovery Ventilation Equipment Certification program, downloadable at www.ari.org .

“By adding this standard and directory to the Internet, ARI manufacturers want to make it easier for architects and engineers to make choices based on easily accessed testing and rating information,” says Denise Beach, ARI’s certification engineer.

The program, which references ARI Standard 1060-2000 “Air-to-Air Energy Recovery Ventilation Equipment,” applies to air-to-air heat exchangers for use in energy recovery ventilation equipment, but not to heat exchangers joined by a circulated heat-transfer medium.

ARI has also announced the release of a new equipment performance standard: ARI Standard 260-2001 “Sound Rating of Ducted Air Moving and Conditioning Equipment.”
