For the past decade, Bauch has been laser-focused on the study and application of acoustics. He started with Johnson Controls Inc. as an acoustics engineer and is now an acoustics engineering manager, where he leads a team providing direction and guidance to product management and design engineers as they design and support air handling units. At this stage of his career, he is a subject matter expert on the topic of sound and vibration and is known throughout the industry for his honesty and integrity. Bauch is dedicated to educating his peers and mentoring the next generation of engineers. He articulates complex concepts well and supports others who do not have a background in acoustics. He has cowritten and written many articles on the topics of sound power, sound intensity and vibration. In 2019, he toured the United States, presenting seminars to the nation’s top engineering firms to help deepen their understanding of acoustics. Bauch has held leadership roles with both the ASHRAEechnical Committee 2.6 Sound and Vibration and AHRI Technical Committee on Sound, further driving positive change around acoustics in the HVAC industry. He has successfully submitted several patent applications to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and was identified for his innovations in 2019 and 2020 through Johnson Controls’ innovator’s award. Outside of work, he enjoys woodworking; volunteering at his church as a musician (bass guitar) and as an audio/video technician; traveling, especially camping, with his family; and mentoring young students in STEM.
