2021 40 Under 40: Jeremy Hoefer, PE, 34
Vice President, Hoefer Wysocki; BS, Architectural Engineering, Missouri University of Science and Technology
Hoefer has always had a natural curiosity about how everything around him works and operates. This curiosity resulted in a degree in architectural engineering with an emphasis in mechanical systems and it hasn’t stopped since. That same curiosity is what led Hoefer to take a less traditional path than the typical MEP engineer. After refining his technical skills, he transitioned into a project management role, which ultimately led him to discover his other true passion — connecting with people. This passion, combined with his natural curiosity, led him to try a career in technical sales. This leap of faith let Hoefer see HVAC systems and the MEP industry from a perspective that most engineers never get to see. Even as he became a top seller in the industry and earned the trust of his clients and peers, Hoefer still wondered how he could apply himself more. In 2020, Hoefer was presented with the opportunity to serve as the director of an engineering for a startup, which would allow him to take his technical abilities and the skills and contacts he’d made in his sales profession to a whole new level. He again took the leap and the rest is history. His curiosity and desire to connect with others does not stop, of course, on a professional level. Hoefer is actively involved in community outreach, particularly with young people, as he tries to make the world a better place. In his downtime, he loves being around people and putting his engineering skills to good use working on his house and cars.
