Macha grew up in the suburbs of Dallas playing video games and collecting all things “Star Wars.” His mom was a banker and his dad worked as a mainframe programmer, which gave him a love for numbers and computers as well as the discipline necessary to work hard to achieve his goals. Not only did Macha have an early passion for electrical engineering, but he also had a knack for it, which proved indispensable when recently working on a Gulf Coast Medical Center expansion that added 408,587 square feet, three stories and 268 patient beds to the facility. He also works with and educates junior staff about the basics of electrical design and manages to make even the most complicated topics look simple. His passion for giving back has translated into community service. He volunteers with the ACE mentorship program, which introduces high school juniors and seniors to architecture, construction and engineering and is a veteran team member of CANstruction, an annual event held in 150 cities around the world that benefits local food banks. Outside of work, Macha still loves “Star Wars” and has a sizable costume collection, which he has used on weekly themed check-in calls this year to uplift co-workers’ spirits during the pandemic. Whether it’s hiking, camping or mountain biking, Macha is most at home being active in nature. He also enjoys playing soccer, video games and board games and has recently decided to challenge himself by taking up the electronic piano keyboard.
