2018 40 Under 40: Brandon Rich, PE, LEED AP BD+C; 33
Associate Principal, Alvine Engineering, Omaha, Neb.
BS and MS architectural engineering, University of Nebraska
Rich began his engineering career as an electrical intern at Alvine Engineering in 2007. While an intern, he assisted in designing projects in a variety of market sectors as well as assisting in reviews of submittals and responses to contractor requests for information. After graduating with his master’s degree in architectural engineering, he began his career at Alvine as an electrical engineer. Rich works on designing electrical and low-voltage systems including electrical distribution, telecom, and fire alarms. Over the years at Alvine, he has been promoted from engineer to project and resource manager to, most recently, associate principal. Along with day-to-day project-execution operations, Rich has gained an expanded responsibility of relationship-building with clients by working as a primary contact. The associate principal position has allowed him to work more closely with electrical engineering principals to evaluate their processes and methods and work together to advance how they engineer their projects and train the technical staff while maintaining the highest levels of quality. Rich’s expanded roles and responsibilities over the last few years have allowed him to become involved in the management of workload and assignment of personnel to keep the Alvine Engineering team of talented and technically diverse engineers engaged. This leadership position provides a platform for him to help guide and mentor younger staff through the formative years of their careers. Outside of work, Rich enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife are the proud parents of a 16-month-old plus their two dogs. He volunteers for a variety of local organizations, loves to travel to domestic and international destinations, stays up to date on new and emerging technology, and is an avid photographer.
