MSc sound and vibration studies, University of Southampton, Hampshire, United Kingdom

Biziorek is an associate consultant leading the Arup Acoustics, Audiovisual, and Theatre consulting team in Chicago. He provides acoustics and audio/video (A/V) technical expertise as well as project management skills for various building types. He has experience in performing arts design, building service-noise analysis, room acoustic modeling and calculations, public address, and A/V system designs. He contributes to the operation and development of the Arup SoundLab, a virtual reality room where clients can experience in 3-D the acoustics of existing or modeled buildings. The SoundLab is used for a wide array of applications, from acoustically optimizing a room shape to design for acoustic privacy. Biziorek volunteers much of his time to the Chicago Architecture Foundation. Since 2012, he has been a member of the organization’s auxiliary board, serving as the development chair and president. He also has served as a mentor with the ACE Mentor Program of America for 3 years, working with high school students to guide them through projects and help them get exposure to the design community. As a classically trained pianist, trumpeter, and guitarist, Biziorek is very passionate about the performing arts. He started a rock band in high school—with many nights spent rehearsing in the basement of his parents’ house—and he played in the jazz band throughout college. He has also been involved in the production (both technical and artistic) of sound-art installations. He also enjoys running and sailing. He loves flying, as well, and has a pilot’s license. He currently flies a Cessna 310.
