Green energy takes home a gold

The U.S Dept. of Energy (DOE) has recognized six leading organizations for the advancing and development of green power.


The U.S Dept. of Energy (DOE) recognized six leading organizations for the advancing and development of green power at the Seventh Annual Green Power Leadership Awards on Oct. 22 in Philadelphia. The DOE 2007 Green Power Supplier Award winners are: Constellation NewEnergy, Baltimore; 3Degrees, San Francisco; Sterling Planet, Norcross, Ga.; Sun Edison, Beltsville, Md.; Pacific Power and Rocky Mountain Power, Portland, Ore.; and Silicon Valley Power, Santa Clara, Calif.

The awards are co-sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Center for Resource Solutions. The combined green power supplied by these organizations amounts to more than 5 billion kWh of green power annually, equivalent to the amount of electricity needed to power nearly 465,000 American households annually.

The Green Power Suppliers Awards recognizes three sub-categories. The New Green Power Program or Product was awarded to Constellation NewEnergy, Baltimore. The Renewable Energy marketer was awarded to 3Degrees, San Francisco; Sterling Planet, Norcross, Ga.; and SunEdison, Beltsville, Md.
