A new engineering exam, customized to evaluate the skills of architectural engineers, will be added to group of exams administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).

This latest addition—which will be available starting in April 2003—will cover analysis and design of structural, electrical and mechanical systems for commercial, industrial and institutional facilities. The exam will also include questions on the topic of construction management.

“This is the first exam developed for architectural engineering graduates that truly tests the skills which they’ll depend upon throughout their professional careers,” said Patricia Brown, P.E., director of the Architectural Engineering Institute, as quoted in the National Society of Professional Engineers’ Engineering Times .
