Peoria, Ill.-based Caterpillar Inc. announced the availability of its new Power Generation Online Community. The interactive forum is a place where consulting and specifying engineers and other power generation professionals can exchange ideas and best practices.

Available at www.catelectricpowerinfo.com/connect , the forum will discuss topics such as site design, standards and regulations, and system components. Previous purchase or work with Cat Power Generation equipment is not required to participate and there are no registration fees.

Caterpillar launched a test of the online community in October 2009 by inviting a select group of professionals involved in designing, specifying, purchasing, installing, and operating power generation equipment. Users from 119 countries have generated more than 110,000 page views and the section spurring the most activity is the power generation sustainability thread, which features discussions on topics including alternative fuels and emissions requirements.
