2022 40 Under 40: Mohamed Kamaludeen, 39

Kamaludeen has more than a decade of professional service in the electric power industry and is working on his doctorate in electrical engineering to boost his knowledge. His experience spans the breadth and depth of the electric power system including engineering and design, forecasting, substation planning, R&D and energy storage. Kamaludeen is an expert on integrating energy storage systems into the electric grid and one of the pioneers in New York City to deploy a battery storage system in a dense urban environment to meet grid reliability needs. Kamaludeen currently leads the integration of utility-scale battery systems into the distribution architecture at Con Edison and develops new business models to optimize the benefits to the grid and customers. Kamaludeen has established his name in the energy storage industry and has been a keynote speaker at the inaugural international Solar Media digital series. He also spoke at an Association of Chemical Engineers conference on grid-level energy storage and at numerous other conferences. Throughout the years, Kamaludeen has been providing critical thought leadership across multiple stakeholder organizations and is working with his senior leadership team to present these initiatives and corresponding challenges to various executive-level steering committees and teams. Kamaludeen leads by example and applies adaptive management techniques necessary for leading high-performing teams. On his own time, Kamaludeen enjoys time with his wife and two children. His hobbies include hiking, playing billiards, swimming and watching the New England Patriots.
