2022 40 Under 40: Cory Duggin, PE, LEED AP BD+C, BEMP, 35

As part of TLC’s PEAK Institute, Duggin provides energy modeling and sustainability consulting to clients on a range of building types. He leads TLC’s energy modeling efforts, tackling the firm’s most challenging models, as well as instructing others in this skill. He is an expert in IESVE modeling software, serves as a beta tester for IES and stretches the limits of the software to achieve architectural vision coupled with sustainability goals. One client said, “Working with Cory has always been a positive experience in that he is so well-versed in energy modeling and takes ownership in developing accurate IESVE reports.” He has developed a reputation for his high-performance design skills and is sought out by renowned architects to provide insight and support on their projects. Some of his notable clients include Vanderbilt University, HOK, Perkins + Will, HKS and the University of Florida. As a tenured manager within TLC, Duggin serves as a mentor to other energy engineers. He also leads TLC’s internal leadership development group, which helps to vet potential shareholders. He has published numerous articles, spoken at various conferences and presented at webcasts. When he is not serving his clients or volunteering, Duggin enjoys spending time with his wife sampling the latest delicacies Nashville has to offer. The pair are self-proclaimed “foodies” and enjoy trying dishes from a variety of cultures. True to form, he even has a spreadsheet of places to try for those visiting Nashville. He likes to try to recreate new dishes in the kitchen with fresh produce picked from his garden. To cap off a great meal, Duggin likes to sip on a glass of fine bourbon from his extensive collection.
