Do has grown into a leader for emerging fire protection and life safety engineers and has helped establish firmwide standards for performance-based design in fire protection engineering. Whether it’s documentation, staff training or resource management, Do has had a key hands-on role on shaping and molding policy. Compelled by the impactful role that fire protection systems can have on people’s lives, Do has focused much of his career on solutions and innovations that safeguard the built environment. Do has always been about making the most of his opportunities and learning more about the world around him. He was born in Vietnam and immigrated to the United States with his family when he was a young adult. In spite of not knowing the English language and being thrust into a new culture, Do charged ahead and let his passion for learning guide him through his education and the new world he inhabits. Do continues to lead by example as a leader for fellow engineers and as a thought leader. He has written or co-written several articles and technical papers and he regularly presents on topics related to fire protection and life safety systems. He is an active professional member with the SFPE and is a member of the fire model selection task group. Do is involved in projects around the community and is particularly involved as a badminton coach with local youth clubs. Do also enjoys spending time with his wife and their growing family, which includes several pets.
