Silent Knight points fire protection in right direction at Staybridge Hotel

Staybridge Suites, Cleveland, 123-room franchise hotel’s fire protection system failed to meet the fire protection system standards and the hotel chain utilized the Life Safety Systems, Cleveland, engineering firm Thorson Baker and the Silent Knight system from Honeywell Life Safety group.

The Farenhyt IFP-1000 Analog/Addressable Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) has 1,000 addressable points and is used in mid-to-large-sized jobs such as schools, universities, hospitals and hotels. The system has one signaling line circuit that supports expansion of as many as seven more signaling line circuits. The FACP also has a built-in, dual-line digital fire communicator and supports remote enunciators, serial/parallel printer interface and system sensor intelligent device protocol or Hockiki devices. The system uses standard wire, which requires no shielded or twisted pairs.

Eight RPS-1000 Intelligent Power Modules power the system and the RPS-1000 adds 5.0 amps of power while supporting its own backup battery and monitoring the AC power. The Flexput circuits are programmable as notification appliance circuits, continuous, resettable or door holder power and conventional initiation circuits for 2 or 4-wire smoke detectors and contact devices. The devices can house signaling line circuit cards, which are determined by their location in the vertical riser structure.

The Staybridge fire safety standard also modified the life safety system by requiring smoke detection methods even in the buildings that possessed a sprinkler system and a beam-style smoke detection system across the lobby area.
