Tampa, Fla.-based architecture, engineering, and consulting firm PBS&J has chosen Wayne J. Overman as its new chief operating officer. Overman first joined the company through its 1997 acquisition of Espey, Huston & Assos. Inc. After that, he led the company’s aviation operations through a growth period. Last year, he served as deputy service director for the firm’s Transportation business line, and he was elected to the board of directors for The PBSJ Corp. in January 2008.

Overman’s appointment comes at the same time as a number of other appointments and promotions. Michael M. Newton has joined the company as director of human resources; Jeanne A. Yacoub has signed on as director of PBS&J’s Project/Program Management Office, a newly created position; and John M. Finochiaro has joined PBS&J as chief technology officer.
