Dunham Assocs ., Minneapolis, has been awarded LEED CI-Silver for its office space. This is the first LEED CI project in Minnesota and the first LEED project of any type in the city of Minneapolis. The firm has about 100 employees, including more than 40 LEED APs. The office space features achieved its rating through features that include: provided transit passes for bus and light rail, plumbing fixtures that reduce water consumption, daylighting controls and occupancy sensors, and use of construction materials with 22% recycled content.

Jak Bicaci, AIA , joined JacobsCarter Burgess , Santa Ana, Calif., as group manager for the company’s Building Program’s unit in Orange County, Calif. A designer and builder with 36 years of professional experience, Bicaci will be responsible for all aspects of construction administration.

Peter Basso Assocs., Troy, Mich., hired Joanna Chudzinski as mechanical engineer in the firm’s Education Group. Previously, Chudzinski was a co-op employee while pursuing her engineering degree at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

KlingStubbins , Philadelphia, announced that Paul Leonard, PE, LEED AP , has been named director of engineering. A 15-year veteran of the firm, Leonard previously served as an engineering design principal. The firm also announced its new senior associates: John Brockwell , project manager, Philadelphia; Diane Evans, AIA, LEED AP , project manager, Washington, D.C.; Ken Kutsmeda, PE , electrical engineering design principal/assistant chief, Philadelphia; Paul Marchese, AIA , project architect, Philadelphia; Timothy Quirk, AIA , project architect, Cambridge, Mass.; Jonathan Weiss, AIA, LEED AP , project architect, Philadelphia. In other news, 670 Albany Street at BioSquare, designed by the firm’s Cambridge office, was awarded LEED status.

Smith Seckman Reid , Nashville, Tenn., celebrated its 40thyear of providing engineering and facility consulting services across the country. In conjunction with its anniversary, employees at the company’s 11 offices will participate in 40 charitable activities and events throughout the year.

MACTEC Engineering & Consulting , Alpharetta, Ga., promoted Peter Campbell, PE , Richard Manser, PG , Terry Smith and Samuel Watson, PE , to vice presidents. Campbell joined the firm in 2001 and also serves as the San Diego office manager. Manser spearheads all San Francisco Bay Area operations, and the Sacramento office. Smith is based in Knoxville, Tenn., and serves as construction services manager of MACTEC’s North Division. He has been with the firm since 1990. Watson has served the firm for 9 years, and is located in Austin, Texas, and also oversees operations for the firm’s Dallas, Houston, and Oklahoma offices. In other news, the firm has been awarded a $5 million, five-year contract with the U.S. Navy’s Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southeast.

Tetra Tech Rizzo , Pasadena, Calif., acquired Daylor Consulting Group , a 40-person engineering, planning, and environmental firm based in Braintree, Mass.

EMCOR Group, Norwalk, Conn.., announced several contracts:

• Its PACE Mechanical Services subsidiary has been awarded a design build contract for specialized work in Chrysler’s new axle plant in Marysville, Mich.

• Its subsidiary, Design Air , has been awarded a contract to upgrade the M/E systems for Seattle Metro Transit’s Central Base facility and revenue processing center, a 22-acre complex that maintains and houses nearly 400 buses.

• Its Contra Costa Electra subsidiary has been awarded a contract to install new 12kv feeders, transformers, and PCCs to the Chevron plant in Richmond, Calif. The same subsidiary also will install a medium voltage distribution, fire alarm system, heat-tracing system, and lighting protection system at Calgren renewable fuels ethanol plant in Pixley, Calif.

• Its Tucker Mechanical subsidiary will furnish and install a new HVAC system at Trumpf laser facility in Farmington, Conn.

• Its Shambaugh & Son subsidiary was responsible for the complete design-build renovation of Zentis Food Solutions’ first North American food processing plant in Plymouth, Ind.

• Its Dynalectric San Diego subsidiary refurbished a fire-damaged solid fuel power generation facility for Imperial Valley Resource Recovery Co. in Imperial, Calif.

• EMCOR Governmental Services has received a 3-year contract from the United States Air Force to provide operations and maintenance service for the Malcolm Grow Hospital and 21 other medical support buildings at Andrews Air Force Base in Camp Springs, Md.

In other news, the firm launched EMCOR360 Energy Solutions, a system that collects data from points between a facility’s components and system controls. It allows facility owners and operators to better manage their energy budgets by analyzing usage data and implementing solutions to enhance overall performance of their energy usage systems. The firm also announced that Michael W. Shelton, PE, president of EMCOR Governmental Services, has been named co-chairman of the newly expanded Professional Services Council (PSC). The combined PSC represents more than 300 small, medium, and large businesses that provide federal agencies with services that include IT, logistics, operations and maintenance, engineering, and international development.

Joel Peterson has joined the Howard R. Green Co., St. Paul, Minn., as a water resources project manager. Peterson has more than 10 years of experience working in water resources engineering and academia.

Kevin Nolan , Paul Lavasseur , and Steven Wadding have joined IBA Consultants , Boca Raton, Fla. Nolan will act as the forensic senior consultant for the firm’s new forensic division in Seattle. Lavasseur was named the new glass and glazing senior consultant in the Boca Raton office, and the Las Vegas office welcomes Wadding as the waterproofing and roofing senior consultant.

TLC Engineering for Architecture , Orlando, Fla., acquired Piazza Engineering, Dallas. Piazza Engineering will become TLC Dallas LLC, the 10thoffice and 13thoperating unit of TLC Engineering for Architecture. John Piazza , Fred Henke , and John Deems of Piazza Engineering have been named TLC principals and the 25-member Piazza staff will join the staff of TLC. The acquisition will close Feb. 29.

Jones & Stokes , a Sacramento-based environmental consulting firm, will be acquired by ICF International Inc. , Fairfax, Va., an environmental planning and natural resources management company.

Ware Malcomb , Irvine, Calif. announced its merger with WHA Architects Inc. of Toronto, Canada.

Treanor Architects, Lawrence, Kan., acquired GLPM Architects , another Lawrence-based firm.

Marshall Erdman & Associates , a Madison, Wis.-based health-care building and design firm, is merging with Cogdell Spencer , Charlotte, N.C., a real estate investment trust.

SWCA Environmental Consultants , Phoenix, founded in 1981, has purchased Morro Group in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

HDR , Omaha, Neb., has acquired Cummins & Barnard, Inc ., a full-service consulting engineering firm headquartered in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Hafer Associates , Evansville, Ind., is merging with Collignon and Nunley Architects, PSC , Owensboro, Ky. The merged firm will operate under the name Collignon and Nunley / Hafer Assocs.

Stantec , Edmonton, announced that is has acquired Rochester Signal Inc. , a signal system design and program management firm based in Rochester, New York.

WK Dickson & Co ., Inc., Charlotte, N.C., a multidisciplined engineering and design firm, announced today it has acquired Browning Engineers of Charlotte.

Burgess & Niple Inc ., a Columbus, Ohio-based engineering and architecture firm, has acquired Foster & Miller P.C ., an engineering and surveying firm in Glen Allen, Va.
