Autodesk has new solutions that help local governments and public works agencies create, manage and share their CAD, GIS and engineering information in a single, open-standards, Oracle-based environment for seamless integration. The Local Government/Public Works Solution includes individual application modules, such as sewer, water, cadastral, drainage, electricity, roads and map books for infrastructure data capture and management.
In other news from Autodesk, the company announced that its Building Systems 2005 system has been closely linked with Trane, GeoPraxis and Elite Software to deliver design and analysis capabilities for HVAC, energy and fire-protection engineering. Engineers can now seamlessly share data between Building Systems 2005 and analysis applications that perform heating and cooling load calculations, sizing calculations and energy calculations. Bentley Systems has acquired Haestad Methods, an international provider of water resources solutions. Haestad solutions provide for design, analysis and management of water distribution supply, municipal sanitary sewers, urban stormwater collection, roadway and civil site drainage and flood control.
Bentley and the Haestad team will continue to upgrade and extend Haestad’s products and move to integrate them more directly into the AEC lifecycle spanning design, construction, and operations. Coade and Alias have signed an agreement under which Coade will bundle the full Alias ISOGEN program for automated piping isometrics into its CADWorx Plant Professional software for plant design. Courses are presented via “real-time” interactive computer conferencing that allow students to interact with the instructor, and allow the instructor, if necessary, to operate the student’s computer in order to make corrections.
