Magnone is the director of innovation and new ventures for Johnson Controls Global Fire Suppression products business. Since joining the organization in 2006, he has held roles with increasing responsibility in product development, codes and standards, innovation and technology development. In his current role, he applies his considerable experience in the fire protection industry along with an entrepreneurial spirit to lead a team focused on the development and promotion of cutting-edge advances in fire protection technologies, systems and concepts. Innovating in the fire and life safety industry involves identifying unmet customer needs and developing cost-effective solutions, while navigating an ever-changing landscape of codes, standards, regulations, requirements and, of course, opinions. Magnone is an active contributor to the fire and life safety industry as a participant on multiple codes and standards making bodies and has conducted dozens of presentations to provide education, outreach and evangelism for new initiatives around the world. He is an avid supporter of the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors and volunteers his time to support the World Burn Congress when it is hosted in Providence, Rhode Island. Magnone is an avid musician and has been playing guitar since he was about 12 years old. His wife, Joie, is a classically trained vocalist and they often collaborate on various musical projects including recording covers of classic rock, folk, jazz standards and pop music songs for holiday and wedding gifts for friends and family. He is also an avid do it yourself enthusiast and woodworker. In his spare time, he enjoys working in his small garage shop building furniture, restoring old antique tools and working on cars. During the warmer months, Magnone enjoys sailing in and around New England and routinely crews for both inshore and offshore sailboat races.
