After earning his degree, Wilson took an entry-level position as a project estimator with a mechanical contractor and moved to the Chicago area. Within six months, he was promoted to project manager where he managed and designed mechanical system retrofits for commercial office, hospitality, higher education and health care facilities. The last project he managed in this position was a 1.3-million-square-foot redevelopment at Navistar World Headquarters in Lisle, Illinois, which involved a compete retrofit of all mechanical systems. He got to know ESD there as they worked in a design-build capacity connecting two chiller plants, replacing building air distribution systems and the entire building automation system. Hired by ESD in 2011 as a staff engineer, Wilson worked on the automation team helping to complete the Navistar project. More recently, he worked closely with ComEd’s Smart Ideas program to help adopt a pilot program – monitoring-based commissioning for new construction – and delivered its first project at the world-renowned Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago. He was promoted to senior project engineer in 2014, named studio leader of the eight-person Energy+Eco Team in 2016 and in 2018, he was named vice president, operations director of the Energy+Eco group. Wilson and his wife are actively involved at Soul City Church located in the West Loop of Chicago. He is passionate about music, having taught himself to play the saxophone, clarinet, guitar and the piano. In addition, he spent the past five years building a home studio for music production. He also enjoys playing golf and cooking.
