Evans is a dedicated member of the Sustainable Engineering Group who specializes in energy modeling, renewable energy technology analysis, commissioning, and geothermal design. In his six years of experience, Evans has managed commissioning, energy modeling, and administering of 25 LEED projects, including several gold and platinum certifications. He is a firm believer in net-zero energy buildings, and he currently has several such projects in design or construction; he will be responsible for their post-occupancy measurement and verification as well. Evans has worked closely with local and state government projects for energy efficiency. He served as a coordinator for the Wisconsin Energy Independent Community Partnership project in Eau Claire County, Wis. Evans led a team to assess 47 alternative energy and energy-efficiency projects at 20 buildings sites and was able to deliver a clear and thorough report on a tight deadline. He has also designed six commercial vertical-well geothermal systems and several solar hot-water systems. He is responsible for managing more than 100 commercial building projects ranging in size from 10,000 to 700,000 sq ft in the Focus on Energy New Construction program. In total, these projects have been awarded close to $1 million in utility incentives. He serves on the ASHRAE Technical Committee 6.7: Solar Energy Utilization and is a member of the Wisconsin Green Building Alliance and Green Schools Committee. Evans spreads the sustainable message by volunteering to assess K-12 schools for Energy Star verification as part of the Energy Star Challenge to Schools task force in Wisconsin. He also speaks annually to several Madison, Wisc.- area middle schools about career opportunities in engineering. In his free time, Evans enjoys woodworking and gardening, playing basketball with friends, and working as a volunteer for Habit for Humanity. He is a devoted husband and father, and he spends his Fridays at home with his two-year-old daughter.
