Coffman Engineers promoted of Arvind Nerurkar, SE, to the position of managing principal of the Seattle office. Nerurkar has been with the company for 14 years and was the Seattle Structural Department Manager for the past four years. This change in leadership developed slowly over time as former Seattle Managing Principal, Pat Piermattei, stepped down from the position in preparation for retirement within the next few years.

“I am honored by the promotion and excited to have such a great team of professionals in the Seattle office," said Nerurkar. "My predecessor, Pat Piermattei, has done a great job navigating the challenges of the past few years. He maintained a healthy office with quality clients. I look forward to providing leadership towards our goals of outstanding customer service and professional, high quality multi-discipline consulting services. We will continue to be successful as we help our clients achieve success.”

Nerurkar served six years in the U.S. Navy before receiving his degree, a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering, from Gonzaga University. He is a licensed structural engineer in 20 states. His vast experience of structural analysis and design includes airport terminals, educational and medical facilities, commercial and residential buildings.

His expertise covers a broad area of seismic projects consisting of new construction, performance based design, seismic evaluation, analysis and design of seismic rehabilitation, and project management. Nerurkar is responsible for implementing the seismic rehabilitation program of a national retailer whom has been a client of Coffman Engineers for more than 30 years.

Nerurkar is affiliated with the organizations American Institute of Steel Construction, Structural Engineer Association of Washington, and Applied Technology Council. He actively participates as a presenter for the International Council for Shopping Centers. Philanthropy is also important to Nerurkar, as he donates hours of his time to several non-profit organizations, such as Architects without Borders.
