ACG Conference keynote speaker announced
Col. Michael Mullane, a former NASA astronaut, will serve as the opening keynote speaker at ACG's 8th Annual Conference, on Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.
Col. Michael Mullane (USAF, Ret.), a former combat pilot in Vietnam and veteran of three space shuttle missions, will deliver the keynote speech at the ACG Conference in April. His address, titled, Countdown to Teamwork: Guarding Against "Normalization of Deviance," stresses the importance of teamwork to completing a complex objective, whether it is a flight into outer space or the successful commissioning of a modern building.
In particular, Mullane uses the cautionary tale of the Challenger tragedy to stress the importance of avoiding the "normalization of deviance": gradually accepting a lower standard of performance (whether due to budget, schedule, or other reasons) until it becomes the norm.
The ACG Conference is being held in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Hotel April 25-27, 2012.
