NFPA 3: a new standard for commissioning

NFPA 3 focuses on active and passive fire protection and life safety systems.

05/26/2011

In the building construction industry, thousands of codes and standards must be met to ensure different systems all function as intended. Individual components are tested independently, but no standards exist for proper testing and function of integrated systems. The National Fire Protection Assn. (NFPA) is now addressing this issue.

Matt Klaus at the NFPA talks about the NFPA 3, a proposed document intended to focus on active and passive fire protection and life safety systems. By providing an all-encompassing document covering all large and small items, the NFPA 3 will set a standard in commissioning during the construction process.
