Lab testing standards for dampers approved

ANSI and AMCA have approved "ANSI/AMCA Standard 500-D-2012, “Laboratory Methods of Testing Dampers for Rating."

04/20/2012

Air Movement and Control Association International Inc. (AMCA International) has announced that the Board of Standards Review of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) approved the following document: "ANSI/AMCA Standard 500-D-2012, “Laboratory Methods of Testing Dampers for Rating."

This ANSI/AMCA Standard establishes uniform laboratory test methods for dampers.  Characteristics determined by this standard include air leakage, pressure drop, dynamic closure, operational torque, and thermal efficiency. Tests that are conducted in accordance with the requirements of this standard are intended to demonstrate the design, production or field testing of a damper and are not intended to determine or establish minimum or maximum performance ratings to be used for specifying these products.
