A New Green Column

Beginning in January, 2008, CSE will begin publishing a print column on sustainability and green buildings. This column will be authored by invited engineers, architects, and other leading practitioners of green design, specification, and management. Because green buildings are broad and deep in scope, topics will include energy efficiency, water conservation, economics, energy supply, global environmental issues, culture, education, lighting, controls, indoor air quality, acoustics, software tools, communications skills, the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED programs, commissioning, product evaluation, and more. The purpose of the column is to help engineers understand green principles, respond to growing market demand for green engineering services, and to “walk the talk” in their own engineering practice.

Green Scene e-Media Opportunities : Be Seen in Green Scene!

With its loyal following, CSE’s Green Scene newsletter covers the full span of green buildings, including the latest hard-hitting news, in-depth feature stories on new green initiatives, LEED exclusive dedicated content and a quarterly article from Energy Star. Sponsorship opportunties are available starting January 2008 but are limited, click here for newsletter sponsorship information. Green Top 20: The Green Top 20 Report presents the engineering firms that “walk the talk” on sustainability by greening their buildings and business processes. CSE is working with sustainability experts to develop the criteria. This will be a must read in the construction industry and will be available online. Sponsorship of the print and online report is available, which includes web ads and name recognition through report promotion. Green Buildings Site Channel : A dedicated channel will host your leaderboard, skyscraper and rectangular boom box web ads. Mentoring Engineers Series As training and travel budgets get tighter, more engineering firms are providing in-house training for staffs. But few engineers have formal training on how to teach or mentor. CSE is proud and excited to offer a six-part series in 2008 that provides training methods and curricular guidance to “train the trainers” and “mentor the mentors” on engineering topics. Covered will be Electrical Systems, HVAC Systems, Fire/Life-Safety Systems, BAS/Controls Systems, Lighting Systems, and Green Buildings. A curriculum-development specialist has been retained to help develop the mentoring series for maximum benefit to CSE’s engineering audience. Authors are being retained who have a personal mission and history of providing engineering education and training. A kickoff article is scheduled for February that describes the state of engineering today that led to the formation of the series, as well as the first of the six part series.

40 Under 40 Who are this year’s premiere engineers under the age of 40 years old who are great role models for young (and older) engineers?
