NECA Commissioning Standard Takes a Broader Perspective

NECA 90-2004, Recommended Practice for Commissioning Building Electrical Systems (ANSI) is the latest of the National Electrical Installation Standards (NEIS) from NECA, and according to the organization’s executive director of standards and safety, it represents something of a new direction for the construction standards program.

“Most other NEIS are product-based,” explains Brooke Stauffer. “We’ve published standards on how to install lighting, switchboards,designer’s intent as represented by the plans, specifications and industry codes and standards.”

NEIS are the first performance and workmanship standards for electrical construction, and are approved by the American National Standards Institute. NECA 90-2004 is the 27th volume of the National Electrical Installation Standards series.
