Sending your ad via FTP, Proofs of all FTP ads must be faxed or emailed to the production manager. Call 630-288-8427 for instructions.
Color : Color images must be saved in CMYK format unless a matched Pantone color has been purchased. If a spot color is used, please note the color on your laser proof and make sure process color separations are not chosen. RGB, Index, or PMS colors in documents should always be converted to CMYK breakdowns (unless PMS spot color has been purchased). If client does not supply proper cmyk color images, all non-compliant images will automatically be converted to process color breakdowns. WARNING: in most cases, automated conversion to CMYK color will NOT duplicate same RGB, Pantone, or Index color appearance of original files. RBI does not assume responsibility for these discrepancies. Please convert all non-compliant images to CMYK color BEFORE creating any PDF. Make sure Distiller settings indicate to “Leave Color Unchanged,” otherwise, file may be converted to RGB color.
Graphics: Raster File Resolution(Photos): 300 DPI saved in Tiff or EPS format. Do not compress placed graphics using JPEG or LZW. Include all placed graphics on disk. Do not embed images in your file with-out also supplying those original images (unless saving as pdf format). Remove all embedded color profiles before saving, sending or embedding graphics. RBI does not assume responsibility for poor reproduction of non-compliant images.
Ad Size: Crop marks should be set to “centered” orientation and should offset a minimum of 12 pts. Crop marks for full page ads should be set at publication trim size. Fractional ads should be set up exactly to ad sizes published in media kit or as posted on website. Ad’s live bleed area should extend beyond trim crop marks by 1/4 inch.
Trapping : Do not trap files. Press house’s trapping settings will override client settings in all cases. Fonts: Include all fonts on disk (printer and screen fonts). PLEASE USE ADOBE TYPE 1 FONTS ONLY. DO NOT use True Type fonts, Multiple Master fonts, or Specially Customized fonts. Adobe Type 1 fonts will be substituted for Non-Adobe fonts, if necessary. RBI does not assume responsibility for content errors due to use of the above mentioned, prohibited fonts (some fonts may not embed correctly).
Please include the name, phone number and address of the creator of the ad in case we need to contact them about the ad or to return a disk. Charges may apply for alterations we make to your files due to errors in ad size, type, or file format. Charges are subject to an hourly rate with an automatic 1/2 hour minimum.
