Industry Roundup: Fluke to Acquire Infrared; Carrier Sponsors Chinese Ozone Protection

• Fluke, Everett, Wash., has agreed to acquire privately owned Infrared Solutions, Plymouth, Minn., a provider of portable thermography products. Fluke expects the transaction to close during the fourth quarter of 2005, following satisfaction of certain customary closing conditions.

• Carrier Corporation, will renew its sponsorship of the China Ozone Layer Protection Awards Program, which is hosted by the State Environmental Protection Administration of China (SEPA). Carrier will continue to provide the financial support for awards for another three years, from 2006 to 2008.

• Targetti North America, Santa Ana, Calif., has filed a complaint for patent infringement federal court against Electrix, Inc., alleging that the latter has infringed its‘961 Cove Lighting patent without right or license and has been selling the infringing devices under its “MX series” of “Ramped and Field Curvable Cove Systems” product line.

• Dedicated Micros, Chantilly, Va., has won the “Best New Product” award at this year’s Australian Security Industry Assn. awards ceremony for its DV-IP Server.

• Extreme CCTV International announced the installation of its REG license plate capture cameras at Finnish Customs at Karesuvanto, Finland. The REG cameras are working in combination with software designed to process constant traffic flow in a very large number of traffic lanes at the Finnish-Swedish border.

• UPM Rafsec , Rafsec, Finland, an RFID tag and inlay manufacturer, has announced that its new state-of-the-art RFID tag production facility in Fletcher, N.C. (USA) has begun operations ahead of schedule and is now supplying RFID tags to the company’s customers in North America.

• Thomas & Betts, Memphis, Tenn., has published Analysis of NEC Code Changes 2005, which informs readers of changes in the 2005 National Electric Code. The book is a guide to using Thomas & Betts products and a reference for new products required for electrical installation that meet NEC requirements.
