EnergyPlus Energy Simulation Software 2.0

EnergyPlus is a building energy simulation program that models buildings’ heating, cooling, lighting, ventilating and other energy flows. As a stand-alone simulation program it does not require a user-friendly graphical interface. Based on popular features and capabilities of BLAST and DOE-2, EnergyPlus reads input and writes output as text.

EnergyPlus is a building energy simulation program capable of modeling buildings’ heating, cooling, lighting, ventilating and other energy flows. As a stand-alone simulation program it does not require a user-friendly graphical interface. Based on popular features and capabilities of BLAST and DOE-2, EnergyPlus reads input and writes output as text. Some of the new features included in the simulation program include:

  • 173 updated solar collector data from SRCC

  • 86 locations of new weather data: 69 in Australia, 16 in Canada and 1 in Iran

  • Modified Zone Sizing that allows standard-type calculation of design outside air flow rates

  • Hourly ventilation object reports on air changes

  • Speed up simulation of water-to-air heat pumps using RegulaFalsi solution technique

  • Added green roof simulation

  • Fuel cell model updated

  • Updated Input/Output Reference and Engineering Reference for all new features and updates

  • Meters report cumulative value in addition to resetting at reporting time interval

  • Added balanced flow desiccant heat exchanger options for existing heat exchanger-assisted DX cooling coil object.
