Nandita Kamdar, PE, CEM, LEED AP, 39

Vice President, Paulus, Sokolowski and Sartor, LLC (PS&S), Warren, N.J.

Columbia University, BS Chemical Engineering; Rutgers University, MBA Project Management

Kamdar joined PS&S in 1995 as a staff engineer, and her excellent technical and leadership abilities helped her rise through the ranks to her current position as vice president. She now leads the mechanical engineering department, which is responsible for approximately 20% of the company’s revenue. Kamdar also completed her MBA while working full time at PS&S. She is active in industry organizations; most notably, she serves as the secretary of the executive board for the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers (ISPE), New Jersey chapter. She coordinated a joint chapter event with the Delaware ISPE last year and has presented energy case studies at the ISPE National Conference. Kamdar has worked with a number of pharmaceutical company clients. She managed the design of a $70 million renovation of a drug manufacturing facility and a $10 million renovation for a “current good manufacturing practice” (cGMP) warehouse for a diagnostics product, both for major pharmaceutical companies. Outside of her work and ISPE, Kamdar has given presentations to entry-level college students at the Raritan Valley Community College about the world of engineering and her experience as a woman engineer. She actively volunteers for the New Jersey Arthritis Foundation as part of the resource development committee. Both Kamdar’s grandmother and mother suffered severely from rheumatoid arthritis, and Kamdar herself was diagnosed shortly after her mother passed away from the disease. Kamdar says that her participation in the foundation’s research fundraising gives her the opportunity to make a difference. When she’s not working hard for a good cause, Kamdar enjoys participating in a book club with her childhood friends. She loves traveling and recently returned from a trip to India. Kamdar loves spending time with her husband Samir and their sons Nikhil and Anil. She recently was named Outstanding Woman in Management in Somerset County.
