Hoffman LLC, Appleton,Wis., received the Award of Merit at the Fourth Annual Wisconsin Sustainability & Energy Efficient Leadership Awards Conference for its design and construction of the Northland Pines High School in Eagle River, Wis.
Hoffman LLC, Appleton, Wis., received the Award of Merit at the Fourth Annual Wisconsin Sustainability & Energy Efficient Leadership Awards Conference for its design and construction of the Northland Pines High School in Eagle River, Wis.
The Wisconsin Green Building Alliance and the U.S. Green Building Council coordinated the conference. The Northland Pines High School project earned the nation’s first LEED environmental gold rating for a public high school in the United States. In addition. Northland Pines is the highest-rated LEED-certified high school in the country. It also is the first LEED-certified K-12 school building in Wisconsin.
The $28.8 million, 253,000-sq- ft. high school serves as many as 600 students. It features an atrium central commons area, naturally lit classrooms, clean air monitoring and water-saving dual flush toilets and no-water urinals.
