With more and more owners becoming familiar with and utilizing commissioning and retro-commissioning for the repurposing of existing facilities, they are becoming aware of ongoing commissioning (OCx) in order to maintain and sustain their facilities at the highest levels. OCx is the process of continuous improvement of the performance of buildings and their systems. This presentation reviews the ongoing commissioning process, how it is implemented, and will review the new NEBB OCx program and the development of NEBB’s new guideline. This presentation is be valuable to building managers, operators, service providers, contractors and commissioning providers and will provide a business case for the implementation of ongoing commissioning.

Jim Bochat has been involved in the Arizona engineering and construction industry for over forty years. His experience includes mechanical design, mechanical construction, controls, test and balance, commissioning, and retro-commissioning.

Bochat is a former NEBB President and has been instrumental in developing and teaching commissioning standards for NEBB. He is a Life Member of ASHRAE and serves on the GPC-30, GL1.2, PMP Project Committee and Certification committees. He also chairs the ASHRAE PMP Best Practices committee and recently served on the ABBA Whole Building Tightness Committee. He has been a NEBB Certified professional since 1974 and has co-authored several standards regarding Commissioning for NEBB, ASHRAE, and ABBA. He is a past Chairman of the NEBB Commissioning Committee and is an instructor for NEBB’s Commissioning and Retro-commissioning Programs. He has taught the NEBB certification program throughout the U.S. and in Australia.

Bochat was presented the George B. Hightower Award for his distinguished service to NEBB at the 2010 NEBB Annual meeting. The George B. Hightower Award is NEBB's most prestigious honor and is presented periodically to people who have made special contributions to the success of NEBB.
