Nearly 200 commissioning providers, engineers, and building owners attended the AABC Commissioning Group (ACG) annual meeting in Las Vegas, April 22-24. The meeting was held in conjunction with the CxA Workshop and exam, which had 85 people in attendance.

ACG president Jim Magee opened the meeting with a rousing address to members and guests. He announced a number of new initiatives that ACG is undertaking, and issued a call to action for members to participate and help maintain the association’s standing as the leader in the training, education, and certification of commissioning providers.

Plans include a complete rewrite of the Commissioning Guideline, completion of the new commissioning technician certification program, and development of an “online anytime” version of the CxA Workshop.

Also on the agenda is a meeting to be held this fall that would bring together commissioning providers and the building owners and architects responsible for selecting qualified providers. This meeting, tentatively scheduled for Oct. 13-14 in St. Petersburg, Fla., would include information about reviewing request for proposals, commissioning specifications, and content for commissioning contracts, as well as an offering of the CxA Workshop on the previous day.
