Paralleling of Distributed Dissimilar Energy Sources in Microgrid Applications

ATTENDEES QUALIFY FOR A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION.

The objective of this course is to provide a comprehensive overview of microgrids and the integration of dissimilar energy sources such as: synchronous generator sets, photovoltaic panels, energy storage components and others to maximize the resiliency of the power system, reduce the carbon footprint, and lower the cost of operation.

Learning objectives:

  • Define microgrids and identify common microgrid components
  • Discuss the functionalities of microgrid controls
  • Describe how paralleling of the synchronous and renewable power sources is accomplished
  • Identify key economic, operational, and environmental benefits associated with microgrids
